Terms of service combination(M)

A Terms Combination (M) is a unit that composes a set of terms pages shown according to the user's language when the user accesses the app. Because users actually review these terms on the Terms Consent screen or the View Again screen, manage the terms content and version carefully. A Terms Combination (M) is used when configuring a Terms Group (L). In a Terms Group (L), you assign the Terms Combination (M) to apply by country, so configure the required language-specific terms as Terms Combinations (M) in advance.

Terms Combination (M) List

In the Terms Combination (M) list, you can check the code, management name, memo, version status, Terms Consent preview, and View Again preview for registered Terms Combinations.

Item Description
Code The code number of the Terms Combination (M). It is also called the M code and is used to compose the View Again URL.
Management Name A name used to distinguish the purpose of the Terms Combination (M). When configuring a Terms Group (L), you search for the M code by management name, so enter a name that clearly identifies the purpose of the terms.
Memo An item for entering additional information about the Terms Combination (M). Use it to record detailed descriptions or operational notes that are difficult to include in the management name.
Version An item used to upgrade or keep the version when the type, content, or order of the terms included in the Terms Combination (M) changes.
Terms Consent An item for previewing the Terms Consent screen. If Terms Consent is not used, the preview button is not displayed.
View Again An item for previewing the View Again screen for the terms. If View Again is not used, the preview button is not displayed.

  • [Mobile] General Terms, [PC] General Terms

    • This is the general terms consent method. Users can use the service after agreeing to the required terms.
  • [Mobile] COPPA Terms, [PC] COPPA Terms

    • These terms are used to comply with the US COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act).

When configuring Terms Consent, consent types are divided into Required Consent, Optional Consent, and Notice.

  • Required Consent is an item that the user must agree to in order to proceed to the next step.

  • Optional Consent is an item that the user can decline and still proceed to the next step.

  • Notice is an item that provides information to the user without a separate checkbox.

View Again Settings

A Terms Combination (M) that uses View Again provides a View Again screen for the terms in the form of a web URL. This URL can be used as a View Again link for terms in the app.

The View Again URL for terms is composed in the following format.

https://terms.withhive.com/terms/policy/view/MCodeNumber

For more information about creating a View Again URL for terms, see Create Terms Link.

Language-Based Display Criteria for Terms Content (S)

Not all Terms Content (S) included in a Terms Combination (M) is displayed to users at once. Terms Content (S) is assigned a language when it is created. Depending on the user's device or browser language, only the Terms Content (S) for the matching language is displayed. For example, if one Terms Combination (M) includes three English Terms Content (S) items and two German Terms Content (S) items, only the three English terms are displayed when the user's device or browser language is English. If the user's device or browser language is German, only the two German terms are displayed.

Warning
  • You can configure Terms Content (S) in multiple languages within one Terms Combination (M), but users will only see the Terms Content (S) that matches their device or browser language. Consider the language-specific display result when configuring a Terms Combination (M).

Version Management

The version of a Terms Combination (M) is related to whether users must agree to the terms again. If you upgrade the version, the terms re-consent screen is displayed to users when they access an app to which the Terms Combination (M) is applied.

The [Upgrade] or [Keep] button is displayed in the following cases:

  * Terms Content (S) corresponding to Terms Consent settings is changed to different Terms Content (S).
  * The version of Terms Content (S) corresponding to Terms Consent settings is changed.
  * The order of Terms Content (S) corresponding to Terms Consent settings is changed.

If the edit requires users to agree again, select [Upgrade]. If user re-consent is not required, select [Keep].

Warning
  • If the [Upgrade] or [Keep] button is displayed and you do not select either option, your edits are not applied.
  • If you edited terms content but do not need to display the terms re-consent screen to users, make sure to click [Keep].
Note
  • The management name is used as the basis for finding the Terms Combination (M) in a Terms Group (L), so enter a name that clearly identifies the purpose of the terms.
  • Changes in the [Terms Consent] tab can directly affect users, so check the scope of the changes and whether re-consent is required before editing.
  • Select [Upgrade] for changes that require terms re-consent, and select [Keep] for changes that do not require re-consent.
  • A Terms Combination (M) that does not use View Again cannot use the View Again URL or preview.
  • The terms displayed to users may vary depending on the language setting of Terms Content (S), so check the language-based display criteria when configuring multilingual terms.
