TCB Connector

TCB Connector is a serverless 'infrastructure integration service' that connects your app to cloud features provided by Tencent CloudBase (TCB), such as functions, databases, and storage, so that the app can use them directly without building a separate server. Therefore, you can easily perform server functions such as implementing server logic, storing data, and managing files through the TCB integration, and the app can focus only on developing business logic.

TCB provides the following range of features, and TCB Connector provides an ‘integration service’ that lets the app client access and control these TCB features.

  • Cloud Function: A function that runs independently on the TCB server. Currently, only synchronous calls are supported.
  • Document Database and MySQL: Supports both a JSON-based NoSQL database (Document DB) and a relational database (MySQL) environment
  • Cloud Storage: A file object storage service for quickly storing and managing media and file data

Features

The infrastructure integration services that TCB Connector provides fall broadly into the ‘TCB integration environment’ and ‘templates for running Cloud Functions’.

TCB integration environment

TCB Connector provides a TCB integration environment that lets the app client use TCB resources through the Hive Axyl SDK and the Hive Console.

The TCB integration environment consists of the following integration settings, in this order. For details about the integration settings, see TCB Connector > Integration setup guide.

  1. Create a TCB console project (mapped 1:1 to the project you create in the Hive Console)
  2. Create an API ID and API Key in the TCB console
  3. Register the API ID and API Key for that project in the Hive Console
  4. Register Cloud Functions in the TCB console

The core TCB resource you can use through the TCB integration environment is the ‘Cloud Function’. A ‘Cloud Function’ is a serverless standalone function that runs business logic on Tencent Cloud. In the TCB integration environment, you easily implement complex server features by calling these Cloud Functions synchronously. In other words, if you implement core logic that previously had to run on the server side, such as granting rewards and getting and saving DB data, inside a Cloud Function, the app client calls that function through the Hive Axyl SDK and immediately receives the execution result.

To keep them from being exposed externally, credentials created in the TCB console, such as the API ID and API Key, are not included in the app client or the Hive Axyl SDK, and the TCB Connector API server itself handles authentication for app client requests.

Cloud Function templates using AI

Hive Axyl TCB provides standard templates so that you can quickly build middleware-based Cloud Functions. When you ask AI in natural language for the service features you need, you can create the required Cloud Functions based on the latest standard templates and register them in TCB. On the app client side, you implement only the business logic handlers and business logic that the service features need based on these templates and register them in the TCB console, so you can quickly develop and deploy Cloud Functions.

Next steps

To implement your app service with TCB Connector, first complete the ‘TCB’ module installation and initialization.
