User management
Overview
User Management is a feature for checking and managing the workspace permissions that each user in the company has.
You can view and manage each user's role (administrator/member) in each workspace on one screen.
What can you do?
Business/marketing users & data analysts
- When your responsibilities change, you can quickly get your workspace permissions changed and start analysis right away without a gap in your work.
- You can quickly update permissions as the team composition changes, so access control over analysis assets always stays up to date.
- You can strengthen data security by removing the access permissions of external collaborators all at once after a project ends.
Quick start
If you are using User Management for the first time, follow these steps to view and change permissions.
- Click the Settings > User Management menu in the left sidebar.
- In the search bar, enter the Hive Console ID of the user you want to check.
- Check the user's list of roles by workspace.
- Click the settings button to the right of the workspace whose permissions you want to change.

| Perspective | Workspace-centered | User-centered |
| Main Use | Manage the members of a specific workspace | View all permissions of a specific user |
| Best For | When you set up a new workspace | When a user joins, leaves, or moves within the organization |
Use cases
Onboard a new team member
Situation: A new marketing team member joins
Process:
1. Check the new employee account on the User Management page
2. Add them as a member to the "Marketing Team" workspace
3. If needed, also add them as a member to the "Internal KPI" workspace
Clean up the permissions of a departing employee
Situation: A data analyst leaves the company
Process:
1. Search for the user in User Management
2. Remove access permissions for all workspaces
Change a role
Situation: Promoted from team member to team lead, workspace administrator permission is needed
Process:
1. Search for the user
2. Change the role of the assigned workspace from 'Member' to 'Administrator'
Notes & tips
- Create and delete the user accounts themselves in the Hive Console. User Management in Analytics manages only workspace permissions.
- Remove the account permissions of departing employees as soon as possible to maintain security.
- Removing a user from a specific workspace does not affect the user's permissions in other workspaces.
